Prehistoric Blackford Perthshire Scotland

Prehistoric Blackford, Perthshire, Scotland. 27 June 2008. Director of excavations Mr Chris O’Connell of CFA Archaeology Ltd will be talking about the groundbreaking results and archaeological discoveries to the north of Blackford, Auchterarder. Never before has rural Perthshire been the subject of such large scale archaeological research, with a landscape of over 150 hectares studied between 2006 and 2008. The excavations have uncovered a wealth of evidence for prehistoric settlement, including two large round houses enclosed within an egg shaped palisaded enclosure and a ‘terrace’ of five roundhouses, none of which were previously known about. An illustrated talk, come and hear the results of what will undoubtedly be one of the most significant excavations in Perth and Kinross this decade. FREE. For further details and booking contact Steven Timoney (01738) 477089 Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust. Event Time: 1900 – 2000
Location: AK Bell Library Theatre, Perth.
