The Black Spout and the Perthshire Homesteads. 12 June 2008. A presentation, by David Strachan of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, on the Trust’s ongoing excavations at the Black Spout homestead, Pitlochry. The talk will outline progress to date and consider the site in the context of the circular homesteads of north-west Perthshire, first reported by Watson in 1912, and the subject of research by Margaret Stewart and David Taylor in the 1970s. Please note that finds from the site, including quern stones, loom weights and a glass bead, or toggle, made from re-used Roman glass, are on display throughout the month at Perth Museum (see events) and that the fourth season of excavations (see events) offers a rare opportunity to see archaeologists at work and hear them explain the process and all the latest discoveries! Free admission. For further details & booking contact Mark Hall, Perth Museum and Art Gallery (01738) 632488. Event Time: 1930 – 2100. Location: Perth Museum and Art Gallery, George Street, Perth.
