Dunkeld Bridge 200 Perthshire Scotland
Dunkeld Bridge 200 Perthshire Scotland. 28th and 29th March 2009. As part of the 200th year celebrations of the bridge at Dunkeld the following events will take place. 28 March at 3pm, there will be a parade involving as many from the local community as want to join, starting from the car park of the Royal School of Dunkeld, over the bridge and down into the Cross (the square). The Parade will be led by the Atholl Highlanders, which are always a crowd pleaser. There will then be some formalities in the Cross, finishing off with a fiddle rendition of Niel Gow's Dunkeld Bridge. From 7.30pm to 8.30pm, there will be a fiddle concert and play based on the bridge in the Birnam Institute. At 9pm, the night will finish with a fantastic ceilidh, with music provided by local fiddler Pete Clark and his band. On 29th March at 7pm: There will be a Service of Dedication held in Dunkeld Cathedral, with a number of local dignitaries in attendance. The theme will be building bridges. At 8pm, the weekend's celebrations will culminate in a fireworks display.
