First produced in May 1875 at the Russian Imperial Theatre, Moscow, Swan Lake is a classic ballet, which tells the romantic story of a young maiden who is transformed into a swan after being cursed by an evil sorcerer - a curse which can only be broken by a pledge of eternal love. This is a tale of betrayal and power, magic and mystic creatures and a happy-ever-after, as the virtues of love and forgiveness conquer all. Look no further for a fantastic evening of romance and dance, perfect for all ages.This ballet is in three acts, with music by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa. All of Ballet Russe's dancers trained in the renowned Russian Ballet Academies, including the Kirov, Bolshoi and Perm Academies. They will bring a distinctive Russian style – full bodied yet disciplined, precise yet passionate, to the Pitlochry stage.
